Hello, to our community! It’s been a while since we published a newsletter -8 months to be exact. A lot has happened within our organization. Today, we’d like to give you a year-in-review of 2023, share with you what we have been doing so far in 2024, and get back in touch with all of you!
2023
In September, our president, Sheldon Williams, went to Geneva, Switzerland with members of Lift Up Contra Costa and the Safe Return Project to assist these Bay Area (California) organizations in addressing racism and corruption within the local police system.
We’re also thankful for the cultural and local navigation provided by Yvonne A. Braendle-Amolo.
Read more about the mission and journey in the East Bay Times.
We held our 5th Annual Turkey Giveaway in November for our Bay Area Street Pantry program, sponsored by the Live Oak Lodge of Oakland, CA.
We give away 93 turkeys and over 560lbs of food for people to celebrate with their family for the holidays!
We held our 4th annual holiday toy giveaway for children in December.
We also gave away 2000lbs of food to 126 families in Oakland, CA for the holidays.
We formed a partnership with the East Bay SPCA to give away dog food and cat food to the Oakland Community during our distributions!
2023 was a year of reflection. We learned a lot as an organization, and though we shrank in members, we grew in all our programs and knowledge. We gained new experiences, new partners, and new friends. We are forever grateful for the love and support!
