Welcome to Advance - For The Future. This is a space being created by EDFU Foundation.
We are a nonprofit NGO with a consultative status within the United Nations. Our mission is to eliminate racism, social inequity, and structural violence. To achieve our mission we focus on the preservation, restoration, and technological advancement of Indigenous Culture. We recognize that the progress, growth, and sustainability of our community begins through the preservation and restoration of our culture and history. We instill self-esteem, self-love, and self-worth in people through our efforts of connecting the Diaspora and creating safe spaces in which people are able to positively express themselves and their culture.
Check out our website to learn more about us, our work, and our programs.
Currently, we are working on our parallel event for COP 27, which is the United Nation’s climate action summit.
We are also going to be present at the first-ever United Nations forum of People of African Descent. EDFU Foundation and our president were a driving force in helping to ensure this brand new forum took place. Our president is the co-chair of the International Civil Society Working Group For The Permanent Forum of People of African Descent. We are working to make sure this is a success and that as many people as possible from the African Diaspora are included!
Our weekly food handout in Oakland, California takes place every Friday at the Melrose Branch of the Oakland Public Library System. We service an average of 60 households a week with free food. If you’re in the Oakland area and would like to volunteer time to help, please email: bayareastreetpantry@gmail.com.
If you can, please consider donating to EDFU Foundation. Your support allows us to continue the work we do such as the food handout and assisting with civic engagement, as well as create spaces and opportunities for people to be heard.
